When Sylius is the right call.

Sylius isn't for every store — it's a platform for mid-market++ with specific business requirements and budget for technological flexibility. Below are the three most common scenarios where Sylius beats competing platforms.

When Sylius wins

Mid-market B2B store with individual pricing, trade credit, ERP integrations. Sylius has all this natively; in Shopify you have to build it via apps.

Headless architecture with a separate frontend (Next.js, Nuxt) — Sylius provides a full REST/GraphQL API and complete freedom in UX design.

A catalog of 10k-100k SKUs with complex attribute logic, variants, and product customization. Sylius handles this better than most SaaS platforms.

Marketplace or multi-store setups — one database, multiple storefronts for different brands or regions.

When NOT Sylius

D2C store with up to 5k SKUs without custom logic — Shopify Plus will be 3x faster to deploy and cheaper to maintain.

No in-house PHP/Symfony expertise — Sylius requires developers with skills that are in short supply in Poland. Without a retainer, it's hard to maintain.

A time-to-launch under 12 weeks — Sylius is highly customizable, but customization takes time. For a quick launch, Shopify Plus is the better choice.

A budget under PLN 100k — an enterprise Sylius implementation starts at PLN 150k. For smaller projects, we build on PrestaShop or WooCommerce.

Five competencies, proven on real enterprise projects.

Sylius specialization isn't a declaration — it's documented years of work on specific enterprise B2B projects. Each of the competencies below has at least two production projects delivered.

01

Sylius Enterprise B2B

Flagship · KMK Klinkier 3+ years

Full Sylius Enterprise with individual pricing, trade credit, marketplace sync, and ERP integrations. KMK Klinkier is our flagship implementation — 3+ years of continuous development under a Growth Retainer.

02

Sylius Headless with Next.js

Production · 2 projects delivered

Headless architecture with Next.js as the frontend. Full control over UX, Core Web Vitals performance scores of 90+, and SEO with no compromises. The ideal combination for mid-market businesses with D2C ambitions.

03

Sylius Multi-Store

Production · 1 enterprise project

One database, multiple storefronts for different brands or regions. Centralized catalog management, local pricing, local payment integrations. A complex but powerful model for brand groups.

04

Migrations to Sylius

Production · 3 migrations delivered

Migrations from PrestaShop and Magento to headless Sylius. An SEO-first approach with one-to-one URL mapping. Average organic traffic drop under 3%, against an industry benchmark of 15-30%.

05

Long-term Sylius retainer

Production · 5 retainer clients

Ongoing support and development for Sylius stores under our Growth Retainer model. Average relationship length: 3.4 years. Clients stay because Sylius developers are scarce in Poland — switching agencies is a risk.

Sylius questions we hear most often.

Do you have an official Sylius partnership?

+
No. That's a deliberate choice on our part as an independent expert. Sylius, being an open-source platform, doesn't require a formal partnership — our capability is proven by a portfolio of implementations (KMK Klinkier as our 3+ year flagship) and by developers with thousands of hours of hands-on Sylius work. A formal vendor certificate is no substitute for real production experience.

How much does a Sylius store implementation cost?

+
A Sylius store implementation starts at PLN 150k fixed-price for a standard B2C setup with a catalog of up to 10k SKUs. A typical mid-market B2B implementation runs PLN 200-300k. An enterprise implementation with customization (multi-store, headless, marketplace) runs PLN 300-450k. Migrating to Sylius from PrestaShop or Magento is typically 30-50% more expensive than a greenfield build.

Can Sylius handle high traffic?

+
Yes, if it's configured correctly. In production, Sylius handles stores with 1M+ visits per month and thousands of orders a day. It requires solid infrastructure (typically a dedicated server or k8s) and a CDN for static assets. Performance optimization — cache warming, Redis, Elasticsearch — is part of our standard setup.

Can the client's own IT team work in Sylius?

+
Yes, provided they have Symfony PHP skills — that's the baseline requirement. After launch, we hand over full technical documentation and run 4-8 hours of workshops for the client's team. The client can choose the model: full autonomy, a Growth Retainer (we work under retainer), or a hybrid model combining in-house developers with our retainer.

Is Sylius suited to D2C stores, or only B2B?

+
It works for both, but its strength lies in B2B and custom logic. For a typical D2C store with no custom requirements (fashion, beauty, lifestyle), Shopify Plus is typically the better fit — faster to launch, lower maintenance cost, ready-made EU marketplace integrations. We choose Sylius for D2C when the client needs custom logic that Shopify doesn't offer out of the box.
